Do I need to know how to play American Mahjong to attend?

No. Mahj & Munch welcomes a range of experience levels. There will be open play tables for experienced players and a guided Mahj 101 table for newer players who want structured instruction.

 

What’s the difference between the New Player and Experienced Player tickets?

The New Player ticket includes a guided Mahj 101 table with instruction and support throughout the session. The Experienced Player ticket is for open play and is best suited for those who feel comfortable playing independently.

 

Will I receive instruction if I purchase an Experienced Player ticket?

The focus of the Experienced Player tables is open, social play. While I’ll be nearby and available if quick questions come up, this is not a structured lesson. Players who want instruction should select the New Player ticket.

 

Do I need to bring my own Mahjong set or card?

No. Mahjong sets, racks, mats, and loaner National Mah Jongg League cards will be provided. New players will also have access to instructional materials during the session.

 

Can I come by myself?

Absolutely. Many guests attend on their own. Seating is arranged to help everyone feel comfortable and welcome.

 

Can I attend with friends?

Yes — you’re welcome to come with friends. If you’d like to sit together, you can note that when registering and I’ll do my best to accommodate.

 

Is food included?

Food and drinks are not included with your ticket. Guests are encouraged to order lunch and/or drinks from Tommy Joe’s menu during the event to support the venue.

 

How long is the event?

Mahj & Munch runs from 12:00–2:30 pm. You’re welcome to arrive on time or shortly after noon.

 

Is space limited?

Yes. Seating is intentionally limited to keep the experience comfortable and social.
